| Spectral Width

| Spectral Width measures the variations in velocities of the particles in the air. In areas that have a high variation in velocities (the warm- colored areas), the particles are moving at different speeds, moving in different directions (up or down), or both. Areas with high variation in velocity (areas with a large spectral width) mean the air is more turbulent and unstable than areas with a small spectral width. |
