A doppler velocity image tells us if cloud particles are moving up or down, and can help us see convection inside of clouds. The orange and red areas of the image mean the cloud particles are rising, and the green and blue areas mean the clouds particles are sinking. Notice that the cloud particles tend to rise in the center of the clouds and sink around the sides. This is convection in a cloud!
