GSD Hosts Hazard Services Focal Point Focus Group Workshop
A workshop in June brought several National Weather Service hazardous weather Focal Points to Boulder. Working with ESRL/GSD and Raytheon developers, the group began the process of customizing the product generation aspect of the in-progress Hazard Services system.9 Jul 14

WRF-Chem in Nepal
GSD scientists recently served as invited instructors at a Weather Research and Forecast with Chemistry Modeling (WRF-Chem) Tutorial for scientists in the Hindu Kush Himalayan (HKH) Region. In addition to this workshop in Kathmandu, they presented some of their latest scientific findings at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development's Second Annual Regional Atmospheric Science workshop in Pokhara, Nepal.17 Jun 14

ESRL/GSD Signs CRADA for GPS-Met Development and Commercialization

Improved Short-Range Weather Forecasts from RAP Model Upgrade to Ver. 2
The Rapid Refresh Version 2, the newest edition of this hourly-updated assimilation/modeling system, NOAA's most frequent rapidly updated weather forecast model, was installed operationally at NWS' National Centers for Environmental Prediction on February 25. RAPv2 provides improved predictions of quickly developing severe weather events, including thunderstorms and winter storms, as well as aviation hazards such as clear-air turbulence and icing.12 Feb 14

GSD Demonstrates Latest Hazard Services Tool to Six NWS Forecast Offices
From late October through November, members of the Hazard Services Development Team visited several NWS forecast offices to demonstrate and gather feedback on Production Version 2 of the Hazard Services application being developed for AWIPS II.
