Notes:
What is Aerosol Single-Scattering Albedo?
- w0 = a measure of the amount of aerosol light extinction due to scattering
- We periodically switch a 1-micrometer impactor in line to remove supermicron aerosols. This talk will focus on the submicron aerosols. Most of the absorption occurs here.
- Heat to maintain a maximum sample RH of 40%. This is done in order to ensure that the aerosol is dry, and that the aerosol radiative properties being measured are intrinsic to the aerosol and not dependent on water content.
