Abstract

Recent challenges in bioaerosol research include identification, quantification and assessment of their environmental and public health impacts. In this talk I will describe our current studies on using genomic and proteomic methods to understand bioaerosol diversity as well as some of the processes that biological aerosol participate in. Specifically I will focus on how air pollution and global change may affect fungal spores potency for inducing allergies. In addition, I will describe the possible contribution of marine aerosol to the burden of endotoxins in coastal areas. Finally, I will introduce a new dispersal mechanism for marine viruses in the oceans through marine aerosols.
