Friday, August 08: DiscoverAQ/FRAPPE Fly-Day
Day 24 of DiscoverAQ/FRAPPE. NASA P3, B200, Falcon, and NCAR C130 flying. Mostly clear in the morning, a few Cu popping up over the Foothills mid-morning; thunderstorms south of Denver, north of Fort Collins, and over eastern Plains. TOPAZ data were collected from 0813 to 1743 MDT. Ozone mixing ratios increased from about 20 ppbv near the surface in the morning, to the 50s ppbv in the afternoon with a brief spike to near 70 ppbv around midday. At 1500 MDT, ozone values increased abruptly to 85-90 ppbv as the winds strengthened and shifted from the SE to the NE. At 1700 MDT, a tstorm outflow boundary passed through, behind which winds shifted back to the SE and ozone values dropped sharply to around 50 ppbv.

Note: Data are preliminary. Potential biases near clouds have not yet been fully corrected.
