Clear-sky TB observed time series

NOTES:
  • Solid curves indicate Afternoon satellites, Dotted curves are Morning satellites.
  • Channels 13-19 include daytime observations. Trends seen for afternoon satellites are related to visible light contamination.
  • Line seen from 1995 to 1997 is connecting the time series for N11 data. Satellite was turned off in 1995 and turned on 1997 due to problems with HIRS N12 filter wheel.
  • Intersatellite biases appear larger for tropical observations because annual cycle is small for this latitude band. The amplitude of the extratropical intersatellite bias is only slightly smaller than the tropical result.
