Robert Pincus

Research Scientist

Research Interests
My research is about clouds as they relate to the earth's radiation budget and climate. This includes descriptions and simple models of horizontal and vertical structure, methods of remote sensing, and the representation of clouds in climate models.

I got my Ph.D. in 1994 at the University of Washington. I then worked in the Climate and Radiation Branch at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center for three and a half years. I spent the next two and a half years in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences and the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies at the University of Wisconsin before joining PSD in February 2001(when it was still called the Climate Diagnostics Center).

Here's a list of my scientific publications, with links to abstracts and reprints.

I'm an associate editor (and the editor in chief, as of 2015) at Journal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems (JAMES), an open-access journal devoted to modeling published by the American Geophysical Union. Send me your interesting manuscripts on modeling of all kinds.
