Water is essential for life. Despite the technological advances, human society is still very vulnerable to floods and droughts. Understanding the response of the hydrological cycle to global warming is an issue of obvious priority in the study of climate change.
Our current effort in this area focus on the response of the tropical hydrological cycle to El Nino warming. El Nino causes a major disruption to the balance of the tropical hydrological cycle, but also offers a unique opportunity to understand the working of the hydrological cycle and how it may respond to global warming.
