Note, this version of the dataset is only available locally at PSD. You can get Prism data from Oregon via the link later on the page

Brief Description:

  • Prism: US Precipitation, Temperature (Average Maximum and Average Mininum).

Temporal Coverage:

  • Monthly values for 1895/01 - present.
  • Long term monthly means, derived from data for years 1971-2000.

Spatial Coverage:

  • 0.04 degree latitude x 0.04 degree longitude global grid (1405x621).
  • 24.0625-49.89584N, 234.9792-293.4792E

Levels:

  • N/A

File Names:

  • var.time.stat.timerangenc   (In directory: /Datasets.private/prism/) for precipitation
  • var.time.stat.timerangenc   (In directory: /home/dmwork/prism/) for Tmax and Tmin
Files were divided into 2 parts to keep them below 2G.

Dataset Format and Size:

  • CDC standard NetCDF 311 Mbyte file for each monthly file (packed).
  • CDC standard NetCDF 30 Mbyte file for each long term mean file (packed).

Missing Data:

  • Missing data is flagged with a value of 32767s.

  • Please note: If you acquire Prism data products from PSD, we ask that you acknowledge us in your use of the data.
