NOAA Data Centers

  • National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC)
    The National Geophysical Data Center manages environmental data in the fields of marine geology and geophysics, paleoclimatology, solar-terrestrial physics, solid earth geophysics, and glaciology (snow and ice).
  • National Climatic Data Center (NCDC)
    Houses a large collection of current and historical climate data from a wide variety of sources including satellites, radar, remote sensing systems, NWS cooperative observers, aircraft, ships, radiosonde, wind profiler, rocketsonde, solar radiation networks, and NWS Forecast/Warnings/Analyses Products. Also publishes numerous climate publications
  • National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC)
    Archives analogue and digital snow and ice data, create and distribute data products, and maintain a large library collection in support of snow and ice research.
  • National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC)
    Holds the world's largest collection of publicly available oceanographic data that describe the physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of the ocean water column from the sea surface to the sea floor.
