FSL's Visitor and Information Service Office assisted at least 1,252 visitors during this year. Many visitors were not counted because their visits were arranged directly with a particular scientist or group, or they dropped in unannounced. The specific count by this office is categorized by percentile in the chart below. Educators and students numbered 755, the largest category of visitors. There were 274 visitors from the government sector (federal, state, and local), 82 from the general public, 122 from the private sector, and 19 foreign countries. Foreign visitors included representatives from Africa, Australia, Canada, China, Hungary Japan, Korea, and Taiwan.
