Japan Earthquake Affects NOAA GPS Water Vapor
Measurements
Data from one of the Japan GPS network receivers was lost after the recent earthquake
and tsunami. When power and communications were restored, it was evident that the
receiver had moved approximately four meters east. Quality control software shut down
the entire Western Pacific subnetwork until the station's data were suppressed. The
station will be brought back on line once a corrected location is determined.
