New Station Construction

The following photos depict the 2000 - 2001 season construction progress during which the exterior sections for berthing and Galley were completed. The National Science Foundation (NSF) anticipates completion of the new South Pole Station in 2005.
The new station will be constructed in sections with Science, Medical, Administration, Communications, Multipurpose Room, and additional living quarters completed in the next 4 years. When completed the station will have the potential to house 150 scientists/support staff over the summer season.
