Data Volume Definitions

Data for each annual season are grouped into a volume, there are a few volumes that span multiple seasons. For the majority of seasonal volumes, there are reports summerizing irradiance calibrations, instrument stability, data outages, and instrument issues encountered during the season. The Volumes and associated Reports available for download are outlined in the table below:

Version 0 Data Files

Are final, quality controlled and officially published data. Data are published on our http site, and are also available via our interactive display system. Data is available for all sites. Version 0 SUV data have NOT been corrected for the instrument's cosine error. Version 0 products include the following categories:

• Composite - Solar spectra in full spectral resolution between 280 and 605 nm.

• Database 2 - Irradiance with measurements at specific wavelengths in ASCII format.

• Database 3 - Irradiance with spectral integrals (e.g., UV-B and UV-A) and weighted spectral irradiances ("dose rates"). A total of six biological action spectra have been implemented, including the CIE action spectrum for erythema and Setlow's action spectrum for DNA damage.

• Daily Dose - Daily doses that were calculated by integrating spectral integrals and dose rates over time.

• GUV Database 1 - GUV Data collected concurrently with the SUV. GUV Database 1 have less temporal resolution than GUV Database 2. Timestamps of wavelengths in GUV Database 1 are matched to the SUV's wavelength timestamps.

• GUV Database 2 - GUV Data collected concurrently with the SUV. GUV Database 2 temporal resolution is one minute

• PSP and TUVR measurements - These measurements are part of all databases.

• Database 1 and 5 - System parameters which are helpful for quality control.

• NASA/TOMS - Ozone data for spectroradiometer sites.

Version 2 Data Files

This dataset is the newest data release, featuring higher accuracy and more data products than "Version 0". Data have been corrected for the cosine error. The techniques used to create this dataset were developed by Dr. Germar Bernhard of Biospherical Instruments Inc.
